Thanks for Entry Denial by ROK

Dear friends

I am leaving for Taiwan tomorrow with a ticket by my friends. I have to many to say, so I don’t sleep at the late night in the airport waiting room. Please read it.
I want to express my deep thankfulness for every small effort which you have done for me. I am not a perfect peace worker, but I would like to be brave to identify myself as a peace worker.

Since I got to know I am not to be allowed to enter Korea in the afternoon of April 24th, the immediate warm supporting action has been taken by the friends who I know or the friends who I don’t even know around the world.

When I am struggling in the immigration office in Incheon airport on the first day, I had my Korean friends who fly the same flight with me to support me and be with me although soon they were taken away. And in the first day’s stressful process in the immigration office, I won’t forget the endless ringing form the protesting phone calls and it bothered the immigration officers so much during the process. I never forget the immigration officers came to me to ask me to stop the posting on twitter as they’ve been annoyed so much by the protesting phone call and “even the phone call from UK!” said with an annoyed voice by one immigration officer. I talked on the phone of Immigration office with some protesting friends as they requested to talk with me who got stocked in the airport.

As soon as I took the phone from the officer, there’s one funny and impressive action which they did to me in common. Before telling me the encouragement words, they all told to me in the very beginning that “Just listen and don’t talk about the name(듣기만해 이름 부르지마).”

You will know why if you ever stay in Gangjeong. You will know why people become so sensitive about their names. I, as one of the peace worker in Gangjeong, know about it.

As a peace worker, we want to practice trust not doubting but one of the pathetic thing is a vicious circle of mistrusting. How beautiful my name is but for such a long time, I couldn’t tell my name in public.

Look at my case. I’ve never got arrested or received an investigation from the Korean police. I’ve never got a trial in the court. I’ve never easily told people my real name or in the beginning not even my nickname. But now I am rejected to enter to ROK because I am in the “Red List”. (* She means ‘black list.’)
It’s uncomfortable experiences but I am not surprised that ROK know about a small person like me. The Gangjeong police called my nick name “Emily” so naturally as if they have been knowing me for a long time. But I’ve never introduced even my nickname to any of the police, and since one day, even the security guys of naval base called my real name (passport name) to one person who’s appearance is similar with me.

I don’t want to deeply think of how they discovered these personal information as I want to be happier. haha But anyway I keep in mind that the nightmare which happened to many other our foreign friends may happen to me some day. And it happened now. Without the bad record from ROK police, I am directly on the national Red List! And so far, under the pressure of Korea congress men, the ministry of justice of ROK remain silent on the reason why prevent me from entering Korea. It’s an (inconvenient) secret.

Firstly, when I was brought to the immigration office and being told about what happened to me, I wasn’t cool enough to arrange my feelings and words.
I just kept requesting to the officers to tell me why a person like me with the legal visa issued by ROK got rejected to enter to Korea suddenly after a short oversea trip. I’ve been living continuously in Korea since 2011, but suddenly you reject me to enter again, and then how about all my “belongings” there: I still have family and friends there, I have seniors and Juniors there, I have love there, and I have inspiration there.

I just thought ROK, you are very RUDE! You don’t even have the manner which the elementary student usually have.

But Now I a bit regret that I should have said to the immigration officers that “thank you for highly value my peace work in your country by kicking me out. I didn’t know I am such an important small peace worker.”

By giving me the special label, I want to say thank you. You give me a big present to continue the vision of Inter-peace islands solidarity. I traveled out of Korea partially for the Inter-peace islands solidarity, but now I must be out of Korea for at least 5 year. I wonder how to receive your big present with honor.

In the beginning, I didn’t want to leave until I am forced out as I wanted to get the answer from the ministry of justice of ROK but my dear family in Jeju initiated to buy a return ticket for me to go back to Taiwan my home country, which made me not happy in the beginning. They said to me “I am sorry and ashamed but in the end we want you to walk back with dignity not with being carried by police.”

I was not happy but accepted the group decision. But after I clean up my mind in my last night in Korea (actually not Korea but the waiting room in airport), I was happy again as I begin to understand that I should walk back to Taiwan and other islands by my own will to realize “inter-peace Islands”. It’s not new to be carried out for a Gangjeong person but this time, I am not going to be carried out but I will walk beyond because I am not blocking but walking a new way.

Still I demand an official reason from ministry of justice, but now the burden lays on my families and friends in Korea who promised me to take the responsibility. Instead, they asked me to walk ahead with dignity. I am awakened about the price of my final dignity and I’m also awakened about the Big Present from ROK.

Let’s work together, let’s not leave each other alone in the way of peace, so that we can finally say no to the war base.

It's my last drawing in Gureombi so far. Gureombi's winter was so cold, so does the Gangjeong sea. Not so many people were there, but people who were there with me were very warm.

海軍於今日開始在生命之岩Gureombi上進行爆破試驗！

濟州島江汀村海軍基地建設地於今日面臨更加嚴重的破壞，海軍於今日(10月6日)開始在生命之岩Gureombi上進行爆破試驗！

韓國時間下午將近3點左右，神父Moon Kyu-Hyun在工程建地大門前，阻擋一輛混凝土攪拌車進入工程地，並對於警方逮捕兩名女性示威者的行為抗議，隨後神父Moon Kyu-Hyun也遭警方逮捕。另一頭以小型獨木舟以及馬達充氣船經由海上登陸生命之岩Gureombi的抗議者也遭到逮捕。今日截至目前的逮捕人數達9名。

韓國時間下午三點，海軍強制執行第一次爆破試驗，濃煙瀰漫Gureombi。韓國時間4點進行了第二次的爆破試驗，位處遠方拿著望遠鏡頭心痛觀望的民眾也能感受到那劇烈的震動。

近幾日，海軍對Gureombi的高度破壞行為，令民眾痛心，然而卻激起愈來愈多棄而不捨的民眾，奮不顧身穿越層層防護柵欄進入生命之岩Gureombi，以宣示此片土地並非海軍所能擁有之土地的決心。另一方面警方的手段也趨強烈，幾乎每天都有抗議人士遭警方逮捕，警察局人滿為患。

10 月2日，11位南韓大學生以及3位韓進重工業員工在準備拜訪海軍基地建設地生命之岩Gureombi時遭海軍及警察暴力逮捕；10月4日，9位神父1位記者Jae Eun Jung遭拘留在東部警察局。

昨日(10月5日)，濟州島媒體工作者工會特別針對記者Jae Eun Jung遭逮捕一事，召開記者會要求警方立即釋放受補民眾、停止濫用公權力，以及保障媒體採訪自由。

記者會聲明稿中指出｢西歸浦市警察局已經採取措施向媒體Choongchung之記者Jung｣提出｢違反集會抗議法｣之司法處置，且海軍強迫她銷毀所有她相機裡所持有的照片，且在逮捕過程中不允許她使用手機。｣濟州島媒體工作者工會指出，警方的行為嚴重打擊了新聞報導活動。

除了警察局人滿為患外，監獄裡的濟州島良心犯數目也沒有遞減的跡象。10月3日，江汀村村長Kang Dong-gyun，村民Kim Jong-Hwan，以及攝影家Kim Dong-Won三位申請保釋遭拒。三位於8月24日的和平反抗中遭逮捕至今。

The four(Kim Jong-Il, Kim My-ryang, Go Yu-gi, Hong Ki-Ryong will be released tonight on bail.) who were arrested Sept 2 have been released on bail on 10/11. That leaves Mayor Kang, and the two Mr. Kims still in prison since August 24. Everyone arrested in Gangjeong since Sept 2 has been released with 48 hours. (with fines but not imprisoned )

於9月2日遭逮捕的Kim Jong-Il, Kim My-ryang, Go Yu-gi, Hong Ki-Ryong四位將於2011年10月11日晚間保釋出獄。目前剩下於8月24日遭逮捕的姜村長以及兩位金先生仍在監獄中。

其他自9月2日起於江汀村遭捕的人都於48小內獲釋放(遭到罰款處罰但未被關進監獄)。

Except for the prisoners in the following slide show originally made by MacGregor Eddy, there are more and more people, including priests, university students, and journalist, got arrested and even got violence from navy when protesting in The Living Rock, Gureombi, the naval base construction site.

除了以下幻燈片(由MacGregor Eddy製作)內的良心犯之外，愈來愈多人，包括神父、牧師、大學生以及記者都於近幾天內遭到大量逮捕，甚至於在海軍基地建設地點抗議過程中遭到海軍的暴力相向。






Although the navy build up the fence against humanity, more and more brave people are willing to break the wall! Without these small but awesome action, the unnecessary wall won't be broken down! However, because of these action, the navy are getting crazy to use violence to these non-violent protesters.

雖然海軍建造了不人道的圍牆，愈來愈多勇敢的人願意突破此高牆!若沒有這些微小但振奮人心的舉動，這些不必要的圍牆將很難有倒下的一天。然而，因為這些行為，海軍回應這些非武力非暴力的和平抗爭者的暴力手段也愈趨激烈。

More arresting will only make the movement get stronger and stronger. The unreasonable and unjust hidden power in behind can indiscriminately prevent the Jeju prisioners from the approval of the bail application, but it cannot discourage people's spiritual in this struggling.
更多的無理逮捕只會使人心以及此抗爭更加堅強。隱藏在後無理及非正義的勢力，你可以肆意拒絕這些無辜無害的良心犯的保釋申請，但你永遠別想打擊人們堅持抗爭到底的精神。

Navy, yes, many times, I am so much outraged, but I try my best not to forget to see "you" as a person, and thus not to hate "you" as a person, but "what" you have been doing is really hateful. You, as a human being, have a choice to stop anytime.
海軍，我必須說，太多時候你的所作所為實在是無法讓人不生氣，但我盡力不去忘記你也身而為人這個事實，並且對於人不去懷有恨意，但是對於你正進行的那些行為，實在是可恨可惡。你，身而為人，手上隨時都握有選擇的機會，立即停止的選擇!

｢江汀村｣字面上的意義指｢水的村莊｣，顯示了在此地區擁有豐沛的湧泉水，此在火山噴發所形成的濟州島上實屬難得，是以江汀村傳統上為濟州島少數能夠種植稻米的村莊之一。在江汀洞海邊-Jungdoek海岸-你可以看到一塊巨大的生命之岩，名叫｢Gureombi｣，潔淨的泉水自岩石間湧出。江汀洞村民喜歡稱自己的生命｢就像個石頭｣，顯示出岩石如何深深地刻畫進江汀洞住民們的心與生活。

虎島座落位置靠近Jungdoek海岸，傳說中創造濟州島的老奶奶她的頭枕著虎島，她的腳跨在漢拿山這座韓國第一高峰上，如此沉靜地睡著。在江汀洞，天晴時，你可以以最好的視角，遠眺韓國第一高峰漢拿山，而你也許會發現漢拿山本身的形狀也像是一個懷有身孕的奶奶。

環繞著江汀洞的海水中，是許多稀有物種的棲地，像是軟紅珊瑚(註冊為第44號自然寶藏)以及許多稀有藻類，韓國70%的水中生物就生長在此區域。有時你可以看到在阿拉斯加海至太平洋間旅遊的海豚路經此地，並以一個愉悅的跳耀向你打招呼。美麗但瀕臨絕種(第二級瀕臨絕種物種)的｢紅角螃蟹｣(中型相手蟹)也居住在Gureombi一帶。此外，這裡也是｢海女｣(潛水至海底捕撈漁獲的女性)們長久以來討生活的地點。

<遭強制｢搬家｣的｢紅角螃蟹｣於Jungdoek海岸的原始棲地，截至目前沒有任何政府機關或者民間團體對於遭強制｢搬家｣的｢紅角螃蟹｣做後續觀察>

聯合國教科文組織(UNESCO)於2002年將江汀洞附近的海域劃為生物圈保留區，同時2004年韓國政府也將此地劃為｢絕對保護地區｣。2006年，韓國環保署選定江汀洞為｢優良生態村｣，而Jungdoek海岸一直以來都被列為｢Olley第七步道｣。Olley步道為濟州島最著名的遊客步道。

江汀村的美，遠比以上所描寫的都還美。濟州島人民自古以來稱江汀村為｢一江汀｣，因為它的美以及豐沛水源供應所帶來的富庶與豐饒。

江汀村的美無庸置疑，但這個村莊五年間因為海軍軍港建設議題不間斷地遭受韓國政府非正義的騷擾與摧殘。

｢如果當初政府遵行法律在江汀村進行民主的程序，我們也就不需要走過這樣痛苦的五年…｣

1993年12月南韓國防部第156屆參謀總長聯席會議決定於濟州島建設海軍軍港。2002年Hwa-soon港獲選為海軍基地，遭當地居民抗議而不可行，2005年Wee-mee獲選為海軍基地建設地，同樣遭到居民抗爭而作廢。

經過兩次失敗經驗的教訓，2005年｢海軍基地振興院｣成立。2006年，濟州特別自治道知事成立海軍基地專案小組，選擇海軍基地候選地點。

2007年4月24日，江汀村前任村長Yoon, Tae-Jung突然要求濟州道知事請願讓海軍軍港座落在濟州。兩日後(4月26日)，江汀村前任村長Yoon, Tae-Jung違反公開宣傳的義務，發出傳票邀請江汀村指導委員會出席會議，總共只有87人出席，出席者僅為支持海軍軍港建設案之村民，因此出席的87人以｢拍手｣通過｢海軍軍港建設的請願書｣提議案。隔天，他們遞交此請願書。其他村民至此皆被蒙在鼓裡。

2007年5月14日濟州島特別自治道知事明確宣布江汀村成為海軍軍港建設地，7月江汀村前任村長遭憤怒的村民罷免，現任村長Kang, Dong-Gyun上任，8月江汀村居民投票表決是否希望軍港建設，儘管海軍試圖勸阻江汀村居民前往投票，仍有共725位居民參與投票，且94%投反對票。

2009年四月展開環境影響評估，然而過程及結果不如人意，當地民間團體批評｢軟紅珊瑚調查不足、海洋環境衝擊調查不足、懸浮泥沙調查不足，生物圈調查結果不詳實…｣，視其為｢草率、不足的環評｣。七月，國防部針對海軍軍港建設案的環境影響評估與濟州特別自治道知事進行商議。九月，海軍要求濟州道知事移除江汀村法律上的｢絕對保護地域｣地位，以利濟州島海軍基地建設。十二月，濟州道議會匆匆變更江汀村之｢絕對保護地域｣地位。

根據｢絕對保護地域地位變更報告書｣，｢此海軍軍港將建構成為『市民-軍事軍港』，是以此軍港將能夠成為旅遊勝地，且此地域的環境狀況不會變化。｣

然而海軍軍港建設尚未完成，各式各樣的生態扭曲破壞已經顯而易見，更別提接下來當水泥覆蓋了名為Gureombi的生命之岩、海床。當殺人武器開始停泊在這個和平的村莊。無論如何，僅占濟州島面積10%的｢絕對保護地域｣地位就如此輕易的被移除了。

2010年6月，Geun-Min Woo當選為濟州道知事，對於海軍基地建案問題他承諾給予江汀村”雙贏局面”。

在對於新任知事承諾的期望下，2010年8月，江汀村村民提議｢有條件地接受海軍基地：江汀村願意接受海軍基地，如果政府在濟州道舉辦透明化且民主化的選擇海軍軍港座落地過程，且找不出其他適宜地點建設海軍軍港。｣ Geun-Min Woo接受此提案。但事實上，沒有任何其他地區被列入候選考慮，因此江汀村居民作廢此提案。11月，Geun-Min Woo進而正式接受江汀村做為海軍基地建設地。12月，包含濟州島海軍軍港建設之預算迅速提交至國會。同月(12月)，江汀村住民向法院提告濟州道知事，要求廢除｢變更江汀村絕對保育地域之決議｣。濟州島區域法院拒絕受理，聲稱江汀村住民於此案提告者之身分資格不合。

2011年2月，海軍軍港建設正式動工，於此同時海軍基地建設地內的文化古蹟搜查才初步進行。試問，如此大規模的建設案怎能在文化古蹟調查結束之前草率定案以及開工？工程進行中若有文化古蹟出土，請問一路知法玩法的政府與建商有停工的氣量嗎？

果不其然，近期，在海軍軍港施工現場確實發現了最早可以追溯到青銅時代的史前遺址，起碼具有7000年歷史，且很可能是濟州島文名的開端。韓國文化遺產政策研究所所長Hwang Pyung-woo也公開呼籲｢從青銅器時代到朝鮮王朝年代的文物廣泛分布與此地區，因此在挖掘調查期間，所有工程應立即停止。並且應拓展文化遺產調查區域｣。此古文明的分布區域與海軍軍港建設地大量重疊，然而海軍軍港工程沒有絲毫停緩的跡象。

自8月24日江汀村村長在抗議建商開工遭警方逮捕後，其他反軍港建設活動的領導人在8月24日、9月1日以及9月2日期間陸續遭拘捕。9月2日韓政府自韓半島調動大批警力，加上濟州自治道原有警力，共派遣了上千名警力將Joungdoek海岸的所有民眾強制驅離，並封死所有通往海岸之道路，甚至加裝危險的鐵絲網，海軍更陸續安裝了監視錄影器，當日警方更再衝突現場當場強制逮捕了38名民眾。村民苦笑，韓政府海軍及警察就像在｢反恐｣一樣。其後民眾陸續遭釋放，但包括村長以及其他主要領導人在內的7名村民以及和平活動家，仍不明不白地遭監禁至今。

自海軍軍港建設議題爆發至今，無數村民以及和平活動家出入警局以及監獄多次，一位和平活動家苦笑表示：｢這群農民被訓練地從單純的農民到幾乎成為博士了!｣當海軍以觸及｢國家安全｣議題為由，以大韓民國政府的姿態，對這些農民提出無數的調查、告訴、罰款以及禁制令，這群漁民、農民一一應接了，到警局、法院報到像是生活的一部份。在江汀村的集會申請，也多次被拒絕，居民在面對警方調查以及可能的罰款壓力下，學會聰明的蒙面。龐大的國家機器，你到底對這小小的村子做了什麼？為何人民連露臉都感到害怕？

村民的意願從頭被忽視到尾，在94%的居民反對海軍軍港建設的情況下，韓國海軍卻無所不用其極，以精明的詐術以及黑箱作業偷走了村民的土地、傳統生活以及生命。江汀村村長曾在一次記者會上表示｢當小偷來到你家偷竊時，你能不反抗嗎？而這反抗到底哪一點錯了？｣韓國海軍知法玩法的情狀如此昭彰，然而政府為了｢國防｣卻極力為這樣不道德的建設護航。

為了海軍軍港建設，撕裂江汀村社區關係也無所謂。

農曆8月15日中秋佳節，在這個闔家團聚的日子，江汀村居民與少數無法返家的和平活動家共同舉辦慶典。一位奶奶邀請吃午飯，記者隨口問說｢一會兒這裡應該會很熱鬧吧?｣，她回說｢家屬不多了，很多年不一起慶祝了，因為海軍基地，有些家屬也不往來了。｣

中秋佳節，海軍懂得向村民送禮，但對象只有支持海軍建設的村民；每個月，海軍也不忘請這些支持軍港建設的村民吃飯；海軍軍港建設工程所需工人，不忘雇用江汀村當地支持海軍軍港建設的村民。在一次工程進行中，一群村民在由鐵絲網加強防護的圍牆外大喊｢xxx，你怎麼忍心在你祖先沉睡的土地上操作怪手如此挖掘，你如果缺錢，我僅有的一些錢就給了你吧，快別挖了!｣

一隻漂亮的白狗臉上被畫上紅眼鏡，記者一問之下，原來是支持海軍軍港建設的狗主人為了諷刺反對海軍軍港建設的戴著紅框眼鏡弟媳的｢傑作｣。對於這樣的家庭醜聞，事實上他們不願多提，多提只是多傷心。

小小的江汀村唯一的教會，也因此問題面臨分裂的狀況。在教會裡，他們不願多提此敏感議題，甚至傳出有部分人士因此出走教會。


江汀村與鄰村法環村同樣有許多靠海討生活的海女，法環村甚至設有｢海女學校｣，培訓專門海女，可見海女在法環村的傳統與重要性。然而自從江汀村的許多海女接受海軍軍港建設的提案並獲得補償後，法環村海女與江汀村海女的關係就此決裂。法環村海女領導人氣憤指責｢誰有權力賣了這片我們共同討生活的海？｣兩村海女此後在共同工作地點碰面了也謝絕與彼此往來。

不論軍港建得成建不成，分裂受傷了的村民的心又該如何重建？韓國政府為了國防所建的海軍基地，在能夠發揮保家衛國的功能之前，社區與家已經先分裂了，政府在江汀村動用的警力、遍佈的便衣警察、海軍在整個江汀村所部屬的高科技監視系統、鐵絲網圍牆，仿如對村民展開內戰。

為了海軍軍港建設，扭曲村民的形象與訴求亦無妨？

濟州島知事，在對村民的承諾跳票後，對村民喊話｢沒有國就沒有濟州島!｣。這邏輯儼然就是：大韓民國，如神一般，創造了濟州島。而在這島上沉靜存在、傳承了數千年的生命、文化、自然，每一戶家每一個人的故事，在沒了國家之後，就什麼也不是了。

一位江汀村大叔曾寫了一首詩，｢我的母親是海女｣。今年6月，他曾在Jungdoek海邊哽咽的朗誦。他說，他想要保護這片有他過世母親辛勤工作餵養他長大的這片充滿回憶的海。這片情，難道也沒了國就什麼也不是了?

在這場掙扎中，不下百次，記者聽到村民以及活動家們口中談著四三屠殺。政府為了加強江汀村軍港建設的正當性，並企圖贏取國內保守派人士的認同，不惜再次扭曲人民真正的訴求，執意赤化江汀村村民這場反海軍軍港建設的掙扎。海軍更在江汀村舉辦遊行拉起布條，直指反海軍軍港建設的民眾全是｢從北的垃圾!｣(意指支持北韓共產黨的垃圾、叛徒)。


江汀村的村民不只一次公開聲明，他們和其他大韓民國的公民一般，喜愛他們的國家。雖然村民的聲名大概來自真心，但在一個外來者的耳朵聽來，不禁覺得荒謬，是什麼樣的政府以怎麼樣暴力的意識形態逼著自己的國民不得不做出這樣的聲明。


江汀村成為一個24小時警力戒備的地區。江汀村村民舉辦的親子園遊會，也總是在千名警力圍繞的奇觀下進行。


中央政府罔顧地方聲音，以如此霸道的姿態介入所謂的濟州｢自治道｣。難怪人民要反彈了。

親愛的每一位我遇到的江汀村的奶奶、叔叔、伯伯，你們能不哭嗎？如果可能，我想拜訪那一個，不會突然有警鈴在全村各角落響起，通知村民有緊急事故、工程在進行的江汀村。如果可能，我想拜訪那個，村民一心的江汀村。如果可能，我想拜訪那個不必擔心周遭遍佈便衣刑警、不必蒙臉的江汀村。


請問，這樣的海軍軍港到底能帶來什麼樣的和平？

One afternoon in Gangjeong...

One afternoon in Gangjeong, I met people in the four intersection. We wrote letters together to all our beloved Gangjeong villagers and peace activists in jail.

Our Tena was drawing "Jungdoek" (a dog and also the next candidate for the president of ROK whose policy is no naval base in Jeju)

One afternoon in Gangjeong, when I took a walk with Jungdoek, we saw the rainbow together.

One afternoon in Gangjeong, I went to Yakchonsa(藥泉寺) to look for the red-feet crab, but I failed. People there didn't know anything about the red-feet crab which the navy declared they have moved from the naval base construction site to there. Now I can only see the red-feet crab cartoon in the street of Gangjeong.

One afternoon in Gangjeong, I drank a cup of ice coffee in the "Grandmother Spring Water Tea House". When we were in Gureombi, we just drank "Grandmother Spring Water". We miss it. We will not let it be covered by cement! No way!

The regular Catholic Mass moved to hold in front of construction gate. The trucks were passing by a lot of times and the police men were still guarding the navy or the immoral construction. It's difficult to hate human being even though they are navy or police men, but the evil thing they are doing is really hateful. Sometimes I want to say the bad words to them, but still I try to pray for them that through this struggling, they will get a different light in their mind.

Hi, Navy. How do you feel when you stay in Gureombi where we used to have fun? Do you think "oh yeah, it's beautiful, but I don't have choice. We need national security or we need to follow the order from the country"? 

It's a big lie to oneself. We actually have a choice on our hand whether to put down the stupid power and to disobey the immoral order.

 Gureombi is crying with the blood tears. It's actually the villagers' tears. Navy, we don't want to cover our face. We all have beautiful faces from our parents, but why do you use the unfair pressure to give people a sense of threaten to cover their face in the public? Why do people feel not safe when he/she is just speaking out that Gureombi is crying with blood tears?

How to be patient when we even see the cement car enter to the gate?

Hey Jungdoek beach, you once belong to all the villagers and visitors. Whoever wants to visit you can visit. But now, I can only see this drawing of the familiar view of Jungdoek beach. Don't steal Jungdoek beach from people's hand!!!

Candle light cultural light is still going on every night. Cheer up Gangjeong! It's gonna be fine!

In a family reuniting day in Korea, we still remember those in jail

As a Taiwanese, today is the Full Moon Festival, and as a Korean, today is thanks-giving day. It's an important holiday for family to reunite in both my home place and Korea.

Today in Gangjeong village, some villagers and the peace activists who couldn't go back home also had a nice celebration together for this special holiday.

However, some disturbing blue feelings still somehow surround this village because of the naval base.

Some of our dear friends were still in jail and thus couldn't spend time with their families. One of the Gangjeong conscientious prisoners asked his son not to meet him in prison as it's gonna be too sad. One family in Gangjeong who I had lunch together today talked that they don't celebrate with a lot of family anymore as many family members' relationships had been broken due to the naval base construction.

It's too bad to see the dividing and broken community.

Now people just want a good rest and a refresh time in this holiday. But we still remember the friends in jail. Really thanks for these people's brave action to light up the dark night of human being's selfishness.

가족들이 모이는 추석연휴에 감옥에 있는 그들을 기억합니다

타이완 사람들도 오늘은 보름달 축제입니다. 그리고 한국 사람들도 오늘은 추석이지요.

추석은 제고향에서도 한국에서도 가족들이 함께 모이는 중요한 연휴이네요.

오늘 강정에서는 마을 주민들과 집으로 가지 못한 평화활동가들이 함께 모여 특별한 연휴를 위해 축하하고 있었습니다.

그러나, 해군기지 때문에 말할 수 없는 우울감이 이 마을 주변에 남아있는 듯해요.

우리들의 친구들이 아직 감옥에 있습니다.

그리고 또한 그들은 그들의 가족들과 이 연휴를 보내지 못하고 있지요.

강정의 양심수들 중 한 사람은 그의 아들이 그를 만나러 감옥에 오지 않도록 했다고 합니다.

오게되면 속상하고 슬프기 때문이었다지요.

오늘 점심식사를 같이 한 가족들의 이야기를 들어보면 해군기지 건설때문에 더이상 친척들이 모여 함께 명절을 세지 않는다고 합니다. 공동체가 나누어지고 깨어진 것은 정말 보기가 안타깝습니다.

현재, 사람들은 어쨌거나 이 연휴기간 동안 좋은 휴식, 재충전을 하고 싶어합니다.

그러나, 우리들은 아직 감옥에 있는 친구들을 기억합니다.

정말로 이 용감한 행동을 하셨던 분들께 인간의 탐욕으로 어두워진 캄캄한 밤에 불을 밝혀주셔서 감사드려요.

Gureombi must not die

Gureombi is a single lava rock from the volcano. Integral part of the spiritual of God. Important part of the memory of Gangjeong village. You can always feel the holy spiritual there. Some arrogant people want to build up a naval base here, and try their best to use all kind of dirty tricky ways to achieve their dumb goal.

 If you also slept there, you must enjoy the sunrise in Gureombi.

We had prayed there as well. Prayed every morning.

 After praying, people enjoying the silence with nature.

We drank the spring water from you every day. Gureombi provide us life.

Gureombi... You must not die. You must not die. 

The arrogant people who think it's okay to break you up like this must be crazy. Where do they hide their human's heart? Don't they feel heart broken? 

The governor of Jeju said "No country no Jeju", but he never knows how long you -Gureombi- has been existing. These poor-educated people. Whoever please send them to the school of life, where teach people to be like human beings not robots.
